My boogie woogie boy

Our weather has been unseasonably warm, 74 degrees a few days ago. Doesn't appear we'll be making real snowmen anytime soon. The first snowfall of the season makes me happy. After that, you can have the slush and muck.

But oh how I love my fake little snow family. For years I have admired my daughter-in-law's little piano playing snowman, which I think came from a Hallmark Store. This summer I finally found one at a yard sale for $3 to add to my snowman collection. A treasure I am telling you, because it gives me such joy to press the PLAY button and watch that little guy shift in his seat and boogie woogie. The lights flash as he "plays" three holiday songs. This is my all time favorite. I'll be posting more of my collection.

Do you have a holiday collection?

  1. My holiday collection consists mostly of all the precious little homemade items from friends, kids, Grandma Blaine and the grand kids. Many of them have been loved to shreds and are not fit to be seen by anyone but me - who loves them. Your Boogie Woogie fella is a charmer!

  2. What a perky snow man! Collection? My whole is a mishmash of collections, Linda! I guess I will say a corner of my teapot/teacup collections is Christas...snowman tea cups, snow man on a tea pot, and a very favorite poinsettia tea pot.

  3. I LOVE snowmen! They're the best Christmas decorations because they can be left out all winter, at least in my opinion! And nothin's better than a Boogie Woogie Snowman! I'm like Bookie....I have a mishmash of things. A few snow globes, a few snowmen, Ooohh, do my snowman dish towels and hand towels count?? :)

  6. Your little vignette is lovely. I would be pressing the button often. My holiday collection is now displayed at my daughters' homes. That's OK, too.

  7. I'm a snowman collector, too, but my favorite is my holiday village set. I can't put everything out anymore because I have so much, but lots of happy memories are wrapped up in those houses!
And,I'm hoping we'll get a little snow this year. It was so special a few years ago when we got some on Christmas Day. I used to live in Michigan, then Wisconsin, and I truly miss that beautiful first snow!

  8. In this go-round in my life, I don't have a collection of decorations. I left all of them in my past life. I think snowmen are cute...I also wouldn't mind a little collection of mini tabletop trees to make the house festive.

  9. Yes, I have a collection. I've had it for quite a few years. I'm pretty attached, but would be willing to part with it if possible.

My collection consists of the following: a second chin, a complete muffin-top/bundt cake top, a jiggly belly, thighs that are so fat, they've become conjoined twins, droopy breasts...the list goes on.

  10. No collection. But the topic reminds me of the very inappropriate PEEPS snowmen I brought home several years ago. I can't describe their anatomical anomaly in polite company. They tasted just the same, though.

  12. Oh, don’t get me started on snow!

..... in brief, it used to be the happiest day of my year when those first, fat flakes were spotted. Having grown up in the Rockies, my memories are more “Currier & Ives” than say, hubby’s hometown (Chicago). No secret, he’d be perfectly content never seeing snow again!

No collection ... as yet(!). I'm still snickering over Sioux's comment!

  13. That is so cute! I'm not much for real snow either. Just enough on Christmas to cover the ground, and that's all I need! Hope you have a nice week ahead. :-)

  14. No, but I'm jealous of your Boogie Woogie Man! Not to mention Val's anatomically impolite Peeps....

  15. Hi Linda -

One of my friends has a snowman collection, including a little fellow who sings and dances. He always makes me smile.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)
