(I was teaching at a school with a predominantly African-American population) and I would have to visualize my class, student by student, and count them off in my head. My parents stopped asking; to me, they are just students.Sioux Roslawskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17924021828536277618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145825647751945760.post-72949276658177569042010-11-13T18:17:25.364-06:002010-11-13T18:17:25.364-06:00Dianna,

She very much wanted a particular doll that was advertised as being able to do something--walk or talk or something (I can't remember). Anyway, it came in two versions: African American and Caucasian. When Beth opened that present, she was so disappointed, she began to cry. "I wanted the one who looks like me!" she said. We were baffled until we realized the one who "looked like her" was the African American doll because she had dark brown eyes and curly hair, like Beth's. The light-skinned doll had blue eyes and straight blonde hair. Beth had focused on what she had in common with the brown-eyed doll, rather than what was different. Out of the mouths of babes! Of course, we exchanged the doll the next day.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145825647751945760.post-31978060877697535792010-11-13T09:34:31.324-06:002010-11-13T09:34:31.324-06:00WOuldn't that be a wonderful world if we did t...WOuldn't that be a wonderful world if we did that? sandieChatty Cronehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02232040517217024681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145825647751945760.post-73344697192817282892010-11-12T18:45:42.554-06:002010-11-12T18:45:42.554-06:00Yes we should.
