Feather Heads

Ahhh, the good earth. We have an abundance and variety of birds in our back yard. Every morning a fat daddy cardinal, a brown mama with the reddest beak, a loud mouth blue jay, or an orange bellied rotund robin sit on the fence waiting for Bill to come out and whistle. The black starlings inch their way in but get chased away by the other birds, ususally. Some days they get a piece of whole grain bread, other times, strawberry or watermelon rinds. It's the mocking birds that have tripped my hubby's trigger. They come this close to us and beg for fried eggs. The mama swoops within inches of us and takes a bite off the egg and flies to the fence to feed her wailing youngster. Nature at its best.

Mother Nature's gift to me on my birthday.

Happy birthday. I must tell my brother-in-law about whistling up the birds for brunch. He already talks to them so much that a mocking bird piked up a tune of his and whistled it every night about 6 pm. The dogs didn't know if it was Tom or the bird. That sounds like a post!

I presume from this that it's your birthday today. Happy Birthday my friend. Never heard of birds having fried eggs before!

Hope the birds were just a beginning to a good birthday! The birds hear sing to the point of being noisy! We now have two pairs of wrens, not counting the Carolina wrens who also sing. Going out for supper to celebrate tonight? Happy June birthday!

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a beautiful day. :-)

I enjoyed your post. My dad is a bird aficionado. He whistles to them all the time.

Be well...

Happy Birthday, Linda!

Those are daring birds, but then what mama won't risk life and beak to feed her chicks.

Happy B-Day, Linda! Hope you had a great day and that your family spoiled you.
I wanted to say hi and also tell you that I finally submitted a story to NYMB series--the Golfing title. I may submit stories to some of the other titles, too--they look interesting and fun! Thanks for telling me about this and sharing the link.

Your birds sound most accommodating - but then what kind hosts you are . . . but really, fried eggs for birds? Isn't that cannibalism;-)?

What a lovely birthday present for you.

Except for that fried egg part feeling just a teensy bit cannibalistic...it's such a cute story! I enjoy the birds, too.
