Worse than a cock-a-doodle

If that loud-mouth red head keeps it up I am going to have to toss something at him. Bill has ruined him and all the rest by tossing out breakfast at dawn. Today, when I can sleep in, that cardinal is on the telephone wire screaming like an infant hungry for his two o'clock feeding. I swear he's worse than a rooster. And by the way, what is it with all the chicken coops around town? One of my blog buddies calls her feathered darlings her "frhens."

Tell that old grayhead to stop feeding the redheads, or you'll cook his goose.

Linda,
I can relate! In our last house, there was a cardinal that came to our bedroom window and flung himself at it at dawn.
Every morning.
For several years.
And John would just roll over and say, "Morning, Red!"
I could've wrung his neck....
The bird, I mean!

That's when the birds wake up around here. And no one feeds them. I guess it's what they do--cheer for the day.

Mourning doves call from their perches on our roof while the robins and cardinals wash themselves in the bird bath--not at the same time.

A peacock screaming is worse than a rooster crowing. When we lived in town, a neighbor a block away had two peacocks. It is much quieter here in the country with our six roosters.

I'm confused. Was it a cardinal? A rooster? A hen? What?

(I'm pretty sure it was a bird...)

My worst bird wake-up call is from a woodpecker. And he's pecking on the house. Sounds a lot like a jackhammer in action.

Hee hee! We used to have a really loud cardinal when I lived in the city. Hope your "scurvy-scurvy-scurvy" little friend learns to be a little more patient!

I'm with K-9 Pat! I much rather hear chirping birds than have a crazy woodpecker on my house! And he/she/it always decides to peck on the tinny part of the chimney! OMG! I always describe it just as Pat did: sounds like a jackhammer! When Mark was a baby/toddler, one would do that and poor Mark would wake up screaming in fear. I'd go outside and find some big rocks to throw at the darn thing, trying to scare him off....not hurt him....of course....
