Bottoms up!

Physically I am back from our cruise, but my mind lingers here in this tropical paradise where we saw gorgeous flowers, butterflies, birds, fish. Where lazy meant lounging on a beach, and my only worries were getting back to the ship on time. And you know me! If there is going to be an incident...
I bought a new swim suit for vacation, not necessarily because my other perfectly good one was a little snug. This purple and black one was on sale and looked cute. It is a one piece with a flouncy black skirt and blousy top. When I  jumped in the water the top billowed around my waist like an inflatable and I had to keep holding it down. I sat under this waterfall with my skirt tucked in because it also wanted to surface everytime I moved. Usually I am fighting gravity which is dragging everything down. This time things were springing up unexpectedly. So I decided to stay in one place and do water aerobics arm exercises. I kept my hands underwater, made fists and rapidly rolled my arms in a knick-knack-paddy-whack-give-a-dog-a-bone-fashion. I was meeting a lot of resistance in that water and could feel the burn in my biceps. When I shifted my body weight, my blousy top swelled and entrapped my arms. Trying not to look obvious, I stood straight up and my skirt flared to the surface and also became entangled. The underlining on the suit is flesh-tone lycra, and it looked like I was flashing when I tumbled face first glub-glub-glubbing and swallowing salt water. All I have to say is, "bottoms up" took on a whole new meaning.

Okay, I'm laughing as I imagine you in the water. Poor baby. Sounds like something that would happen to me! Which is why I try and stay out of water.

The "skirt" of my suit was acting up as well. I think it was trying to escape the rolls of cellulite it was camouflaging...

Yes, your post made me chuckle.

Always the life of the party, whether working out at the gym or swimming in a tropical paradise!

I think the skirted swimsuit designers forget the part about what happens to fabric in water...or they assume that said wearer would never get IN the water.

Thanks for my morning laugh!

The photos are great, and it sounds like you had a fun time, even with the swimsuit malfunction.

Hee Hee! It seems that your swimsuit had a life all of its own!! Bet you didn't think that you would be the entertainment for the day! Looks like you had a wonderful time, and I am very envious. Have a lovely weekend.

So happy to hear that you had a great trip! I also have a bathing suit that won't behave itself in the water...so I keep that one for land-use only..it has a cute skirt that looks great for walking around a beach or getting a bit of sun, but in the water it takes on a life of its own...insists on doing the 'dead-man's float' no matter WHAT I want to do! I already feel like a porpoise without having all that extra material floating around me, so I completely understand your pain. But at least my lining is black...love the flesh-colored idea...you should use a permanent marker and draw cheek lines on it in the right places! LOL.

Hi, Linda. I couldn't think of any bathing suit malfunction comments the other day. Been there, with the balooning suit. I remember ucomfortable as the outstanding feature. Actually, I havn't been in one for more than forty years.

Linda, I have (had!!)a bathing suit with a skirt. Actually, two years ago it was pretty flattering, even though the skirt did fly up when I hit the water. I literally wore that suit out, and, because I had lost weight, it was a little baggy. I couldn't find a new one that didn't cost a gazillion dollars, so I just took the old one to the beach with me a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't until I got down there that I noticed that it was also getting a little threadbare as well. Bathing suit photos are always THE WORST, and when I saw the photos my son took of me with my twin grandchildren, I was horrified! It had stretched out so much that when I sat down, all those places that bathing suits are supposed to control just spread out like my grandmother's underwear! It went right in the trash as soon as I got home!!

I had a bathing suit like that a number of years ago. (I won't say how long.) Now, I steer clear of both swimwear and beaches.

I'm positive you should consider a circus high-platform diving into tiny teacup act! Your audience's thrill wouldn't be so much about witnessing the plunge, as it would be watching you and your fabulous bathing suit doing tricks once you hit the cupful! And think of the $$$ you two would rake in! I for one would pay big bucks to see you guys!

They should have instructions on that 'floatation device! Mishap or no...lounging in the ship's pool sounds like a great way to while away the time. Glad you had fun. And yes...I've figured out the tripod thing. My photography instructor will be proud of me.

Swimsuit designers should have to try them out in various positions before they are allowed to market them. :-)

It's so hard to find the perfect swimsuit!

Welcome back from vacation!
I like your new profile photo, and also your new swimsuit.

I envy you for being able to go on a cruise and enjoying it. I'm usually seasick and miss a lot of attractions on the route.
