A little dab'll do you

A very quiet little girl was doing her work today, alternating red/yellow bingo dabber dots along the edges of a sheet of paper (patterning is a pre-reading skill). She looked up and said, "This is sure making me ..." I thought sure she was going to say tired, but she said, "hungry."

I like unexpected responses. I also like this gorgeous weather. We hiked a trail that has been recently refurbished. Aren't the flowers beautiful?

Today after school Nicole came over and asked where the sand bucket and squirter toy was. She proceeded to fill the bucket with water and then she loaded the squirter repeatedly. She watered the flowers, bushes, trees, with streams of water that shot three feet away. Maybe not my way of doing it, but she is one determined child.

Diligence, that's a requirement for writers too, don't you think?

Diligence? Most definitely. And just like Nicole watered the plants in an unexpected way, writers also spin tales or have their "way" of proceeding through the writing process that is sometimes surprising or unique--but it works for them.

Diligence is useful in almost any circumstance! Great way to water plants, beautiful flowers in the photo, and you look terrific!

Hi Linda...What an inventive grandchild you have!

Oh, I definitely think writing takes diligence and LOTS OF IT. Take care and thanks a million for all your visits and comments on my beloved blog. Susan

Love how your lil' gal thinks outside the box! (Because no-one has yet told her she can't!)

I'm sorely lacking in diligence -- but certainly open to suggestion. For instance? Since spotting your title, I'm wandering around singing, "...use more even if you dare."

Sounds like a lovely way to spend an autumn day to me!

Bryl-cream...right? Whatever happened to that stuff anyway? What a charming way to water flowers, much more fun that the 'adult' way. Two of my grands once watered my tulips this way...one held the petals still and the other poured water into the tulip's 'mouth'. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Yes, diligence. Diligence and time.

This beautiful weather has to be our reward for making it through the summer. Even the rain doesn't bother me. It feels good.

I love Fall but it is sort of sad as well. Meaning it is an introduction soon to be winter.

Brrrrr cold coming on us one day.

So cute how your sweetie pie was thinking outside the box.

Sioux is right, we all have our own special way. And thank goodness no one told her she was doing it "wrong." How many more successful artists would there be in the world if we were all celebrated for our different ways!
