I submitted a story to Listen To Your Mother St. Louis. I received an email stating that my story was one of thirty out of sixty submissions to be selected. Next step, I must audition and read it aloud next Saturday. Twenty-four cities across the US were selected to participate in this event. St. Louis writers will read on the Saturday before Mother's Day.
I am thrilled and a bit nervous. I am hoping my voice doesn't crack, my pants don't split, and I don't trip. Whether or not I make the cut, I am happy to have had my story considered.
I live in St. Louis, MO, but my heart and soul hang out at the beach. I am a multi-genre, award winning writer and member of St. Louis Writer's Guild. I am a seasoned pre-k teacher, wife, mother, Nana to nine. Hopefully, something I say will make you smile, further your writing career or inspire you to write from the heart too. Stop by often, email me at billin7@yahoo.com. or Google "Linda O'Connell Chicken Soup" to find my various works. Twitter, WriterLindaO.
I am co creator of this PG-13 rated anthology to be released March 2014. Submissions are open. CLICK ON IMAGE for details on how to submit your true, sassy, wacky family story. Tell on your sibling, write about a humorous or crazy incident, you know, the stories you reminisce about at your family gatherings. Not looking for sweet and sappy stories, but fun, true stories 1,000-2,000 words. Previously submitted stories are still under consideration. Be patient, it takes time to develop a book. There are many titles in development. Check out the list and submit to some of the other books.

Hey, this is great! I have never heard before that one must try out with a reading. Is this normal?
Yes, sleet here today! I think the entire white ground is sleet. At least it was frozen when it fell so no ruined trees. Colder tonight...more might be coming. I am not up to date on the latest news...I have squandered this day!
Congratulations! I can visualize you dispensing advice such as, "Keep your girdle in your purse, and never, ever open that purse until you get home." Yes. You have a stage presence.
Pretend the audience is made up of children. I used to be the children's choir director at our church. I am not talented musically, but I do love music and I love children (teens, not so much). The first time we performed in front of the congregation, someone stuck a microphone in my hand and I felt the blood rush to my face and I spit out something, can't remember what, then just that fast realized that all those faces looking at me were the same faces I spoke to about their kids. The same faces that peeked out the door as they waved when I picked up all thier kids for practice because I was so determined to have a children's choir.
I love an audience now. Give me a platform and I will speak. I even did those announcements from the pharmacy when I worked at WalMart.
Remember to speak slowly, don't try to rush through it. And smile. It's contagious. You will be fabulous!!
Oh, Linda. Congratulations on making the cut. I've heard you speak, and you definitely have a stage presence.
Break a leg, girl. Not really, but you know what I mean.
You KNOW you have stage presence, Linda.
Just pretend your snarky (Beth and me), encouraging and sweet (Lynn and Tammy) WWWP members are presence during your audition.
You'll sail right over their bar without even touching the rail...
Congratulations! How wonderful! Best of luck to you. I'm sure you will do fine. :)
You will rock it!
If I can do Open-Mic without shaking so hard I knock the mic over, you will do fine. Go girl!
Very nice!
Pearl
Congratulations! I wish you luck, and I know that you'll be just fine!
