I can't get the image out of my mind's eye. The elasticity was completely exhausted.
Okay, I'll admit it, I have stuffed my size 14
backside into a size 12 pair of pants, left the zipper partially undone, and
worn a long shirt so no one could see.
But what we saw this evening while grocery shopping
made me wonder what some people are thinking, or if they even look at themselves
in a full length mirror. For goodness sakes, plate glass windows reflect images!
Are people no longer body conscious? Do they not care?
This very obese woman, old enough to know better, wore a crop top shirt with a pair
of black leggings that were stretched tighter than an overstuffed sausage
casing about to split wide open. They were made of light-weight material, so
the more they stretched, the thinner they became, until it looked like she was
wearing black pantyhose and you could see her skin. Her white hip hugger underwear were suffering under
duress, but the leggings were screaming for relief. It's not like she was
holding anything in, so why didn't she let it all hang out? She was exposing everything anyway.
I am not prejudiced or making fun of anyone's weight. Goodness knows, if you were a block away from me you couldn't tell my butt from my gut, and you wouldn't know if I was coming or going. But this was jaw dropping ridiculous.

Well! I'm certainly going to pick a new night to do my grocery shopping!
Linda--There was a woman I regularly saw at work who wore thin, off-white stretch pants and thong underwear--always purple or black--and she was not a tiny lady.
I think they all have mirrors, but their mirrors give them a different image than my mirror gives me.
It's quite a world, Linda. You never know what you are going to see nowadays. Susan
I've seen similar sights on oversized women who might have pulled on their twelve year old daughter's clothes by mistake.
I've seen myself in plate glass windows and cringed now and again. Now I make sure to wear the good trackies, not the scruffy house cleaning pair.
It's nice to know that Atlanta isn't the only place where women try to stuff ten pounds of sugar into a five pound sack. Alas, common sense is in short supply everywhere.
Just one more thing we have lost. a sense of decorum. I don't want to return to girdles, always a hat and gloves, but at least in those days there was a set of rules to follow. We seemed to have thrown out the word proper in exchange for personal rights! What about our rights not to have to see it?
Oh dear, oh dear Linda. The mind boggles. What a sight! I quite agree - people just don't seem to look in the mirror anymore. Either that, or they just don't care. Ugh!
Too many people forget about accentuating their good points and playing down their bad points.
I've often wondered what on earth some people are thinking when I see the way they are dressed out in public. Some things you wish you could unsee!
Ohhhh- what a visual! And I'm convinced some people truly see a different image than what the mirror shows them...
