Yesterday we exceeded a weather record here in St. Louis. On March 14, 1971 it was 82 degrees. Yesterday the thermometer reached 86 degrees.
I am so ready to release my puppies. Would it be terribly wrong of me to just turn them loose and let them run the town? They have been barking for days, they want to be freed, but I am using retraint. They aren't cute young pups anymore; in fact they are old dogs. You know old dogs have problems, and it wouldn't be fair of me to release them on the unsuspecting.
First I'm going to have to groom them, take care of their paw pads which are in need of some Burt's Bees. Trim a wild hair or two, might even paint their nails just for fun. I'm like the dogs, I want to scamper, leap, trot, roll in the grass, but with my luck, I'd roll in a pile of something smelly.
So, I am going to tweeze that wild big toe hair, paint my nails, moisturize my heels and ease my old dogs into a pair of flip flops. That cute T.V. meteorologist promised an entire week of 80+ degrees days. I'm so excited, I am yapping and chasing my own tail. If that weather dude were here in my house, I'd lick his cheek and sit pretty.
A couple of posts back, I personified a purse. If you are interested in personifying an animal, here is a submission opportunity for you.

This so cute, Linda, but I confess I thought the puppies you were releasing were...well, not your toes. This weather...still extreme although nice. I defrosted my deep freeze yesterday--in March!
Like Bookie, I was thinking of another body part at first. I was imagining the relief when "the girls" are untethered...though I would never want mine to run free.
Ah yes, it seems spring (or summer?) has arrived here too. No dogs to release, but I will go outside and play with my grandson today. :)
Oh Linda, that was a GOOD one. At first I thought, "Oh, I didn't know Linda had dogs." Then, as I read more and more, I realized you were talking about your feet. Ha ha! Good post. Thanks for the submission info. You're the best! Susan
Got me, too. Any time you want to take off the collar and let 'em run is a good time.
Let your dogs run free -- and that includes your feet!!
80 up here in Minneapolis tomorrow. For March, it really is just wrong.
But I won't turn it down.

I'm with Bookie and Kim. I thought the puppies you were going to release were the droopy dogs...the same kind of puppies I let loose every evening when I walk into the house and take off my bra.
Let 'em run free, Linda!

I must confess that I knew right away you were referring to feet. Because I had the same idea here! I even scored a new pair of flip flops at the local Alco. Nothing like the sound of shoe sole slapping your heels to announce the ariival of warm weather!
Yep, I knew they were your feet, too! (Maybe we have to be a certain age to remember hearing feet being referred to as "dogs!" AND I know how much you love to be in sandals, flip-flops, etc. BUT LINDA....if you DO this....you know what will happen, don't you?? You'll jinx the weather!! Be VERY careful with your powers!! :)
Fished in! Excellent! Ya got me!
I hope you and your puppies ran free this week. The weather is gorgeous here too. Except for right now, it is raining. Thanks for the shout outs about all the submission calls.
Cute, cute, cute!
You are so clever.
