Demise of two great ones

Oh no! Dr. Joe Gannon died today and so did my cell phone. In high school most of the girls liked tall, dark and handsome Dr. Ben Casey. I mooned over Chad Everett, Medical Center. It wasn't his blonde hair and fair-skinned good looks, it was his demeanor, his bedside manner, his smile that made me fantasize.

I watched my very basic phone fade slowly away today. Oh, but the brilliant colors that precipitated the demise. The colors went from vivid to pastel and then finally I couldn't pick up my emails.  A quick trip to the  AT&T store where a nice kid worked his magic on me as though he were Dr. Gannon easing my pain.

I had to upgrade and now I have a new 99 cent I Phone with way too many buttons for me to figure out. I think they call them apps...I wish I knew what that meant and what to do with this little electronic gizmo that ended up costing way more than 99 cents when all was said and done.

Grandson said we should link up to Netgear so we can get internet on WiFi when we are out. Does that sound right? I can see me running the charges up because I don't know what I'm doing.

I can't help you with your new gadget. I have a son for that. Good luck figuring it out. Any kid off the street, from about the age of eight, is a wizard with these things.

And Sherman Hemsley, ol' George Jefferson himself, is "movin' on up" as well. He might have preceded your phone and Chad Everett by one day.

I am completely bamboozled by my phone. But I think you will get the hang of yours.

And Val is right. Any kid can hook you up with all kinds of apps--and a lot of them are free.

I can't understand the new stuff either.
I think you just have to work and work with it...which leaves little time for other life. That is why everyone is walking around with something in their hand or ear!

My Dr. Kildare was Richard Chamberlain...he was my heart throb way before Thorn Birds fame. He made one record...Hi Lillie, HiLow....my friend and I wore the disc out!

I hate passages of any kind though as lately they are all hard ones....

Good for you, Linda!
Keeping up with the modern gizmos.

I do my best with my Blackberry (I still prefer the kind you eat), but I don't know how to do HALF the things on it. ha hahaha

At least we're trying, right? I think we should get A for effort! Susan

With two grandkids now permanently in residence I acquiesed to texting. On my flip phone! Now I want a keyboard.

I think the key is to think of it as a fun, new toy, but I can't help but think of it as one more time-gnawing chore. I too am sad to hear Sherman Hemsley and Chad Everett died! Seems like someone famous from my youth dies every day. :-o

I got an iPhone last year and love, love, love it! Once you get used to it, you'll never go back to a basic phone.

BTW, when I heard you got the word on CS Power of Positive, I figured it was a no-go for me. Kept watching for my "Sorry you didn't make it into the final round" email. Instead, I got the acceptance today! Looks like we may be in another CS together!!
Woo-hoo!

Whenever I get one of those contraptions, maybe by then you can show me how it all works!
