Was that really an oops?

My sleeping habits are worse than a newborn's. I lie down at 7 p.m. to read or watch TV, wake at 11:30 p.m., up a while, down a while; wide awake at 3:00 a.m. Lie on the living room couch and watch episodes of M*A*S*H until I doze. I'll be glad when winter is over. Water mains broken all over town, pipes in schools, churches and court houses broken flooding buildings.

This morning I woke at 4 and turned the TV volume low and Closed Captioning on to watch the NEWS.

The reporter said, "It started snowing again at 1:00 a.m. Roads are slick, and freezing rain is expected by noon."

I was ready to cry when he went on:
"Road crews are out plowing and salting the roads."

The Closed Captioning (which probably operates by voice command) read: ROAD CREWS ARE OUT INSULTING THE ROADS.

That is probably the truth. I laughed out loud.

At least you've still got your sense of humor! I do hope it lightens and warms up for you all soon-

It appears like most of the roads have been "insulted." There are piles of snow overshadowing the streets, big ruts worn down in the middle of the lanes...

Yes, Mother Nature has dissed the roads...

As usual, your writing made ME laugh out loud, Linda. My roads have been "insulted" pretty well, I think, so I'm going to venture out today. Thanks for the smile!

It's miserable when you have disturbed sleep patterns like that, and I feel for you. I'm glad you had a smile about those roads though!

As many potholes as the roads around here have, they sure look like they've been insulted! :)

Thanks for the laugh, Linda. I needed that!

People are getting around here now...tomorrow is to be warm rain which should melt most snow. People are thrilled but it is not even the middle of January, bet there is more yet. I wish it would all get over at ONCE! Then I could really move on. I am writing a little again though...hope! The sleep...I understand!

I forget that you are a beach bum... and so you probably really hate this weather, whereas I'm perfectly content... but then I don't have to get out in it! Funny story - and congrats on your recent publications! Queen Chick!

Good one! I was up at 3:00 a.m., trying to figure out why a computer came on by itself.

Unlike a newborn, at least you can get up and turn on the TV, make a cuppa. Broken sleep is no fun though, if you have to get up and go somewhere the next day.
Insulting the roads...ha ha.
