A whiz bang celebration...one for the books

A kiss is but a kiss...

 We've gone from THIS

TO THIS

and we are still happy after all these years. Valentine's Day just happened to be our 20th wedding anniversary. Yesterday was memorable. I was covered in body fluids. Oh what a day. It started with a sweet good morning kiss from my honey, and continued all day.

A little girl hacked and coughed in my face, a snot-nosed little boy sneezed a string of green snot at me. A little guy who was over tired slobbered all over me as I rocked him to sleep. I asked my aide to take the children to the playroom. I heard noise in the bathroom and found a little boy, bottoms up, bent over the toilet trying to clean up a MESS that was smeared everywhere, so I wiped up the messes. ALL of them.

I called my honey on the way home and said, "You know I love you, right? I've partied all day, a.m. class and p.m. class had Valentine's Parties. I'm exhausted. I'm pulling into the drive way, so hop in the car." We ate at a buffet and came back home. I laid down on the couch to watch the  news.

Here's the news: I woke up the day after our anniversary, at 12:05 a.m.  a cover lovingly draped over me. I came to bed and apologized. We made plans for Monday, a day off school. We will go on a long drive to do some eagle viewing across the river in Alton, Illinois and we'll have a nice meal and take pictures along the way.

We aren't simple. It's just the simple things in life that still make us happy.

Linda--I did the same thing--collapsed in front of the TV after (barely) surviving the Valentine's Day party.

How much sugar can a nine-year old ingest? The amount was boggling. My only pleasure--the kids were getting hopped up on sweets and then were going home--for a long weekend.

After 20 years (or 28, in my case), it HAS to be the simple things. Because looks fade, energy and passion wanes...but laughter lives forever.

(And with Silly Willy, there's no shortage of funny...)

Cute post, Linda! I agree with Sioux, too. After so many years, it's the laughter that keeps us going. And speaking of simple things....Ron always says it's a good thing it doesn't take much to make me happy! :)

Often the simple things are the best and you haven't changed a bit, well maybe a bit.

Hi Linda...I think you and your honey make a very handsome couple. And I don't think you are a BIT fat. Not what I call fat, anyway.

I'm so happy you are both still happy all these years later. I'm very happy to say that it's the same for my hubs and me. We'll celebrate our 40th March 1st! FORTY YEARS. OMG. We had some horrid times and beautiful times and we've weather every storm together, like you and Bill.

Hope you have a nice Sunday. Susan

Enjoy your celebration on Monday. I will think of you while I'm at work. Our holiday was ripped from our sweaty grasp to cover one of those 18 snow days.

Happy Anniversary! I hope you get another twenty years and then another twenty after that. But without the added body fluids.

Happy Anniversary!!!!! Love your hat/cap and scarf look.

V-day was pretty much a non-event at our place. I was initially disappointed, then realized I'd unwittingly bought into all the commercialism. You're right, it's the every-day, simple things that matter.

Hope you were able to enjoy some great eagle-viewing!

By the way, Linda: Why has your hair color stayed the same over all these 20 years, and Bill's has gone from dark to...grayish-white?

Happy anniversary! 20 years is quite a feat these days. I especially like the kissing booth photo as the first time my hubby and I smooched was in a kissing booth when we were in college. Good juju!

Sorry this is late, but happy anniversary! That was a better love story than tales of flowers and chocolate. No wonder you and your honey have hardly changed at all in twenty years.
