Icicles and Popsicles

I received an acceptance from Sasee on a story I wrote about the beach. It will be published next month. The beach is my happy place. I need only to think about the crashing waves, sights, sounds and smells and I swear I can lower my blood pressure.

Can you imagine snow on the beaches of South Carolina? Businesses closed due to poor road conditions and SNOW in SC, FL, GA?

In Boston the Atlantic Ocean is overflowing into the city.

In Alaska it is 50 degrees.

In New Hampshire where our friend lives they have 18 inches of snow.

Meanwhile in St. Louis there are children going to school in unheated buildings, with no flushing toilets or drinking water due to water main breaks.

This has been a wild and crazy winter. I will take summer day with a Popsicle any day!

Linda--Congratulations on the Sasee story getting accepted.

And yes, the weather is crazy. But as a still-working teacher, I appreciate the occasional broken water main, because old school + broken water main = a day off.

Congrats on your story! Remind us next month when it's published, because I forget things.

The wind was so cold today that Hick valet-parked at the casino, rather than having us hike in from the lower lot as usual! AND he gave the guy an extra dollar in the tip.

It's 50 degrees in Alaska?? I think they have our weather. It is in the teens here and it is NEVER this cold this far south.

"Meanwhile in St. Louis there are children going to school in unheated buildings, with no flushing toilets or drinking water due to water main breaks."

I can not believe this. Here they cancel school if it gets too hot because there isn't central air in some of the older schools.

Congratulations on your Sasee story. Hopefully I'll remember to get on their site to read it. The weather is kind of crazy, isn't it? Stay warm and pretend you're on the beach!

Congratulations on the acceptance! I am with you on preferring the beach to winter too. I'm already done with the snow and cold and wishing for spring.
