Two slogans that made me take a second look yesterday:
Teach your girls to be somebodies
instead of somebody's.
An obese man wearing a T shirt imprinted with
Fat people are harder to kidnap.
Right now there's freezing cold, whirling snow, whipping wind, accidents on the highways.

Winter’s Breath

Here you come again!
You snare me, draw me into your darkness;
beckon me to sugar up and snuggle down.
I’m sluggish day and night.
You snare me, draw me into your darkness;
beckon me to sugar up and snuggle down.
I’m sluggish day and night.
I look a fright.
You dehydrate my creativity, zap my inspiration,
prune my face, take me by my cracked dry hands and whisper,
“You’re a wannabe, a never gonnabe."
You dehydrate my creativity, zap my inspiration,
prune my face, take me by my cracked dry hands and whisper,
“You’re a wannabe, a never gonnabe."
“Come to me and cuddle.”
You muddle my thoughts,
deepen my doubt,
annihilate my ideas, quash my spirit.
You glaciate my prose
penetrate my poems;
my ideas freeze solid as
elongated wordcicles.
Thaw’s coming;
spring’s an ellipsis away.
Words will start flowing again
and blossom all over the page.
You muddle my thoughts,

annihilate my ideas, quash my spirit.
You glaciate my prose
penetrate my poems;
my ideas freeze solid as
elongated wordcicles.
Thaw’s coming;

Words will start flowing again

Not a bad poem, all things considered!
If this is what you do when in winter’s icy embrace what will you do when spring airs gently fan your face?
Doesn't seem like you are at a loss for words even in this wintry weather! Caught up on all your blog posts. Funny about Bill scaring you with the flashlight... and your mattress (although probably not so funny that you'd been taken to the cleaners on that purchase) And you always seem to come across some real characters... good for stories!
Lol! I love this poem and can relate!!
And you know something else that is cold? Revenge.
Bill--keep looking over your shoulder. Someone is plotting against you.
Love the poem. And I am consoled that I will be hard to kidnap ....
Linda, your poem is outstanding! Writing is so good and certainly captures a lot of my feelings too. Our temp dropped 40 degrees in the night...this is what drags me down, the nice days and then set backs again. Oh well...my keyboard keys have been hot this morning!
Well said, Linda! It doesn't seem like you've lost too much of your creativity to winter. I loved your poem and laughed out loud at the kidnap quote. What a glass-half-full way to see it!
Winter's icy grip can be very debilitating though our UK winter seems intent on drowning rather than freezing us!
Love the poem. It's true about being sluggish day and night. I can't wait for the weather to improve so that I can get out and do some walking again. Keep safe and warm.
Great poem! You captured the feeling perfectly and I can really relate to it too.
I feel your frozen pain. I am stagnating from too much time off.
It's definitely time for winter to melt away (in my opinion) but I fear Mother Nature has other ideas.

Cool poem, Linda. (Pardon the pun.) Guess you don't like winter, eh? Ha! I know that you are a beach girl.
Take care and have a nice Wednesday.Susan p.s. Thanks so much for all your visits. Susan
Hi Linda,
I love the poem, sweetheart!
God bless you, Linda.
All the Best,
Starry.
Nice poem. I like the slogans too.
Love it, Linda. At the moment snow is falling and the birds are eating us out of house and home. But that's okay.
Your words always blossom. I think it must be summer all the time in Linda Land.
