He always tells it like it is.

When I'd heard the latest account of another car jacking, I got mad and said to my husband, "I think if that ever happened to me, I'd go ballistic and hit someone, and then I'd..."

Before I could finish, my honey said, "Babe, the spring has gone out of your chicken. You wouldn't bounce back."

I said, "What do you mean by that?"

He looked at me and said, "You do realize you are no spring chicken, don't you?"

Well that was a fine how do you do!

Is crime rampant where you live?

The theft of metal vases from grave sites is rampant. As my sister the ex-mayor's wife says, "You have to be pretty low to steal from the deceased."

Tell that old coot that his gizzard is grizzled.

Linda--Well, if you're no spring chicken, what ARE you? And more importantly, what does that make him?

A winter buzzard?

This is Atlanta. *sigh* Yes. Quite the crime rate here. And you don't want to be a spring chicken anyway. It's overrated. Better to be a bird with some wind time beneath your wings! :)

Yes. Just this week another set of young parents were arrested for abusing and killing a two year old. So many sex crimes. Bank robberys. I feel like the world is a huge blue ball rolling down hill, picking up speed as it goes. Somewhere someone must lead us back to civility, to the the Golden Rule, to eliminating a generation of people who think they are entitled and owe no responsbility. Excuse the rant...oh, and thanks a lot, Bill! Ha.
Last weekend when our dog raised a ruckus in the car to his walking up (she doesn't want people near the car.) he said, "Well at your age that isn't all bad."

My heart goes out to the police officers who are fighting this war on the streets and the citizens who live in fear. The world can be a very scary place, can't it?

I totally agree with the commenter Bookie's words :" Somewhere someone must lead us back to civility, to the Golden Rule, to eliminating a generation of people who think they are entitled and owe no responsability."
I would go further than that and say, maybe it's time GOD does a reset of his creation, the world. The world today is not what it was supposed to be at the beginning, it's mightly chaotic.

I'm with Lisa. Spring chickens just get cooked, anyway, don't they? I believe I'm growing into a tough old bird, and I rather like that. But I'm with you on the crime. Someone needs to take care of crime - and someone does. And I for one am so grateful to them that they put their lives on the line every day to do it. I'd be too...chicken.

Hi Linda. Oh boy. I think I would have had a curt reply to Bill's statement. I probably would have said, "Well you are no spring rooster! Bawk bawk BAWK."ha ha

Yup, crime is up in our little burg, mostly drug-related crimes.

Whenever I read about child abuse, my heart just about jumps out of my chest. If the abuse has been really bad, and the child dies, I feel better, knowing he/she is safe in the arms of our Lord. No one will ever hurt them again. Sad but true.

Hope your weekend is delightful. Susan

I live in an urban area of Akron, Ohio, and yes the crime rate is high here. Too many people with guns. I miss living in a small town and hope that eventually we will move away from here. The news here depresses me.

It seems to have become commonplace in far too many places these days. Prayer is needed.
