When life gets you down, don't give up

After eating pizza, I walked around a lake and took photos.

Sometimes life can be exhausting: mass killings, the world situation, violence, disappointment, illness, death. Someone in our extended family was robbed after a ball game and her boyfriend shot. He is paralyzed. Friends and family are battling cancer and serious illnesses. Warring nations, starving people, hurricanes and natural disasters...life can get you down.

Everyone needs a support system. Don't be afraid to reach out, state your feelings, needs, ask for what you want. Express gratitude.

When you are feeling down, look up. The night sky was an incredibly beautiful gift.

Stand out from the rest. Do something that makes you unique. Be a leader not a follower. Being different is OKAY.

Hang out with those who make room for you. Return the favor. Share, no matter how little you have to give.

Don't give in to your fears, and don't automatically turn tail and run.
There is a divine plan for each of us. Have faith. Hang in there.

I saw a photo on Facebook of a Native American captioned:
What if I told you the left wing and the right wing belong to the same bird?
What if we all vowed to seek peace?

Good advice all the way through. Every day is something bad to hear about. I am not listening to the news and yet I hear. Everywhere I turn there is some group where the people are at each others throats! People are angry and worn and quickly defensive. Nothing like a book to take you away....if you can find the time and space to read! If you don't like the people there, you just shut the covers!!!!!

Wise and inspirational words! I also saw the right/left wing picture and thought the same thing. If everyone did just one little thing every day, I truly believe that change would take place. Thanks for posting!

Indeed, life can get one down. My 'support system' is God. I place my trust in God, pray to Him for help, and my prayers are answered.

Brilliant post, Linda. I wish you had an option to FB share or Tweet it (you can probably add that option to your posts). You used few words, spoke volumes.

Sure needed this, Linda. Been kind of down all week and don't know why. But the daily news sure makes it easy to get bummed. I'll try to "look up" more often. Thanks.

I agree, Linda. I keep wondering and saying out loud, "Why do we have to hear ALL the BAD NEWS on TV and radio? Who says that is NEWS?" I was down for quite a while, too, Susan, and didn't really know why, either. I have to remind myself sometimes to get back up to my usual, optimistic self!

There's a song the late Andre Crouch wrote that expresses my view: "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future. I can face uncertain times because He lives."
