Fat WHAT?

Fat Tuesday? Why don't they just rename it Fat Linda? I made a batch of mini cupcakes and told myself that four of those quarter-sized babies equal only half a full sized one. I've eaten the equivalent of two full-sized cupcakes. You do the math. I make myself sick, plus I don't do numbers well, especially those three digit liars on my scale.

Then I spied the M&Ms that the gas station attendant convinced me to buy at two for a buck. It seemed like a real bargain after handing her forty-eighty dollars for gasoline. So, during the morning news I alternated between a few pretzel stuffed M&Ms and the peanut variety.

Hubby awoke and I asked if he'd like to split half a bacon, egg, cheese English muffin breakfast sandwich.

"Wow! Half? I'm proud of YOU!" He beamed as my guilty face blended into my double chin.

I poured two cups of orange juice and took the bigger one for myself, a quarter ounce more, but still I had to be a glutton. If this is the day to binge, I've started out right. I understand that binge and purge is not a healthy lifestyle choice. How did those heathens do it?

I vow to eat a salad at lunch. I'll go light on the ranch dressing, boiled egg, two kinds of cheeses and bacon bits. Oh okay, I'll skip lunch and jog around my classroom for half an hour. I'm old enough to know that my body and mind are slipping, so by lunch, I might forget all of this and go to the ice cream shop and cash in my two for one coupon. I have 21 flavors to choose from.

I SO know these kinds of days, Linda. Fought the battles all my life and now losing the entire war...as body spreads like a BP oil slick!

My problem is having stuff too available when the munchies happen.

I have no advice, but lots of empathy. I got the binge part down pat, just can't get my finger to agree to help with the purge part.

I empathise, truly!

hee hee hee hee I could sure identify with your post today, Linda. Whenever I pour something or fix two plates, I always pick the bigger of the two for "moi." I never tell, though. You are more honest. Great post! Susan

Hi everyone,
Some days it seems like a losing battle, especially when I come home from work and hubby suggests going out for dinner when I had planned on veggies and tuna-noodle. What is a chunky chick to do? I'm WEIGHING my options, if you know what I mean.

Linda,

Your post reminded me I have a box of chocolates stashed on the top shelf of my pantry. It is "Mardi Gras," after all. Munch, crunch.

Glad "Writing Workshop in a Box" arrived in one piece. Hope you enjoy using it.

Michael

Well, the peanuts in the M&Ms do provide protein...:)

A while back, you mentioned that magnesium helps migraines; I've found it also helps my sugar cravings along with joint pain and sleep problems. No kidding, I feel better than I have in years. That said, I ate a chocolate bar today. It's Fat Tuesday, raining, and I can't afford to drive anywhere!

Sadly, every day is Fat Tuesday for me.

I keep forgetting to try the magnesium! Heck, if it helps with sugar cravings AND keeping migraines away, I'm all for it!

I thought I'd quick read your post before I fix myself some tea and some shortbread. Can't do one without the other very well. Funny, I never seem to crave celery sticks and rice cakes! Sigh!

Pat,
I guess we're all in the same boat, and Debora, if only those celery sticks had a sweet taste. Thanks all for your comments. I've been inspired by all of your comments. I think I'll eat more M&Ms, go foraging for hidden chocolate and then pop magnesium with my calcium pill today.

You hit on two of my favorites: M&Ms and ice cream. Those pretzel M&Ms are slightly less calories, but there are only about 10 in the bag, so you have to eat two bags to make up for it.

Oooooohhhhhh thank you for the laugh...at least I am not alone. What is it about stress or discontent that propells be into craving sweets and unhealthy stuff (which is good tastin' stuff)?

I cut my hair short so it would motivate me to exercise more in hopes of reducing my double chin...

I love the dark chocolate M&Ms....I have convinced myself they are "healthier".

With Spring and Summer coming on...it is extra difficult to stay away from ice cream...and DQ Blizzards...or french vanilla ice cream with chocolate magic shell and raspberries on top...

OK...now I have to go walk the dog around the block to keep me from diving into a bag of chocolate chips...

Sometimes you just have to say, what the heck, and give in to the M & M's, ice cream, and dinner out. Maybe the day after Fat Tuesday should be Remorseful Wednesday. Or maybe... More Morsels Wednesday?

You are all cracking me up. So glad I am not alone.

This must be the week for grazing. I'm usually pretty good (I count Weight Watcher points most of the time) but this week I Just.Couldn't.Stop.Eating. All the bad stuff...tater chips, coffee cake, M&Ms...Now ask me if I regret it. Nope! Sometimes ya just have to oink a little!
