Here we go again!

We drove ten hours Saturday almost to New Orleans.. Discovered TheEssence Convention in town and no hotels available. We stayed an hour away at The Best Western ... which wasn't! Our shoes stuck to the floor, we couldn't see the bottom of the pool, so no swimming. A family with tap dancing kids had the room above us. I awoke to a text at 3:00 a.m. I thought it was a prank
" We regret to inform you... " Oh geeze! Bill, WAKE UP!

A cargo ship had sunk at the mouth of the river which empties into the Gulf. The channel was closed. Instructions from Carnival Cruise: Do not proceed to port. Wait for an update on your cruise.

Nobody had answers. At 8:00 a.m. local news reported it was a tug boat that sank and crew had been rescued. But the ship enroute to port was being diverted to Mobile,Alabama. update by 2:00 p.m.

Finally, received a text... Be at port terminal at 8:00 a.m. Tomorrow!

They're bussing us to  Mobile and will skip the first port and head to The Bahamas. So, tomorrow we will have a 2-3 hour motor coach ride.

It has to get better from here. We are in a high class hotel watching people dressed to the nines for the Beyonce concert. Oh the sights we have seen. Plus size woman walking down street in shocking pink bikini, and a young man wearing a mini skirt and halter top, his "Carol Channing" overprinted lips grinning, gold high top tennis shoes sparkling... as he panhandled for tips. "Take a picture, I'll drop my top for a dollar." It is elbow to elbow; so many people on the streets and huge police presence.

Update next week. I'm sure there will be more colorful characters to tell you about.

Sounds like Murphy (of Murphy's law) came with you. Hope it gets better, but there will be a lot of things to laugh about 5 years from now. :-)

Great! It looks like tomorrow will be a better day...I hope the rest of your trip and your cruise is "smoothing sailing."

Maybe Bill needs to get into the panhandling business while you're stuck there? He could wear a mini skirt and a halter top, and you could tease out those curls of his.

I can see it so clearly...

I am sorry about that - but are you going on a cruise? Lucky you!

Haha! Never a dull moment -- but you know the cruise will be worth the hassle to get there. :) Sorry about your Best Western stay. Years ago on a family vacation we intended to stay in Chattanooga, but the Little League World Series was in town and there were--literally--no rooms. We had to stay at a Days Inn in Ringold, GA. OMG. Because of rooms being so hard to come by, the rates were hiked sky high. There were SPIDER WEBS in the shower and dead bugs along the baseboards. It was AWFUL. But there was no where else to go so we stuck it out so the kids would have a bed. I barely slept a wink. Ugh!

Have a great time!

Your motel room sounds like the Yucca Motel in Gila Bend, AZ. Appropriately named, it was yuck-a!

But the girls enjoyed the coin-operated massage beds...until Shannon locked me out of the room, mid-tantrum.

Geez....I hope things get a lot better from this point on. I'm not a cruise-type person....rather stay on land...or take to the air...but no ships for me. Wishing you lots of fun and relaxation!
