If I can do it, you can too.
An essay that I sent off on Friday is under consideration for a spring issue publication. Just when I was expecting a rejection I got a semi-acceptance (on spec). Don't let fear and self-doubt hold you back. As a famous publisher told me recently, "All they can say is, NO." Take a chance and get something out there this month.

I'm trying to send out at least one piece per month, because you're absolutely correct...there's no other way to get published!
Hi Linda,
Just read the lovely comment you left at my blog-thanks for stopping in (by?) at the Hall of Fame.
And you're right about taking that chance, sending your work out-I mean, what's a "no", anyway? I've been a SUBSTITUTE TEACHER in a MIDDLE SCHOOL. It takes a lot more than a "no" to stop me...(like a 6 ft. tall 7th grader :-)
I'm going to work more on my book this year....but will try sometimes to submit articles, too!
Have you done the numbers and figured out what your percentage of acceptances is, versus rejections? It seems like it must be very high. You're amazing!
