Oh my gosh! I received an email today that made me sit up and take notice. Actually, it made my heart pound rapidly, and I did a happy dance. I had to wait to calm down before responding.
Months ago I submitted to a call out for an anthology titled, We Will Survive.
Gloria Gaynor's #1 hit song in the 1980s, I Will Survive, inspired her to develop an anthology based on how her song inspired others. My story was one of those selected, along with three other local writer friends. Gloria Gaynor's publicist asked if I would contact the others to see if they wanted to meet GG briefly next week when she is in town for a private event.
We were very excited, and I answered YES on behalf of Lynn Obermoeeler and Cathi Lamarche, Alice Muschany, and myself.
Then a little while ago, I received an update: Would we like to be Gloria Gaynor's guests at her concert, a private event in town? We will join her an hour beforehand to chat.
Now how cool is that?!

Gloria has been honored with awards, had many guests
appearances in the United States and other countries, and has received
accolades worldwide. Along with her global reach through concerts and
engagements, Gloria uses the platform and inspiration of I Will Survive
to give back. "I Will Survive should remind us to be proactive in
this world." Gloria embodies this through her work with the American Diabetes Association,
Save the Children, the National Network to End Domestic Violence, and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, among others.

Congratulations on the publication, Linda (and Lynn, and Cathi) and how thrilling. You ladies are going to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Take photos. Have someone else take photos of you with Gloria. And savor it...
How exciting for you and our local writers who will get a publishing credit and get to meet the inspiration for their selected stories! I agree with Sioux, take photos!
How cool!
First I was afraid--I was petrified!!!
YOU LUCKY DUCKS!!
(That song was HUGE the year I moved to the big city of Macon, Ga. and got a big time job at a small time radio station. I sang--some would say screeched--that song down the aisle of the station SO many times. Ah, Gloria. I feel 20-something, just thinking of you. :-)
That's pretty good I bet you are thrilled.
Merle...........
OMG, Linda!! I am doing the happy dance for you, Lynn, Alice, and Cathi. (that's four, right? You're excused for getting the math wrong! You were too excited!!)
That is the coolest thing I've ever heard of about any of our local writers!! The other anthologies maybe should take notice and start offering a little extra something, too! :)
I think you all should "dance like nobody is watching" ...when you get the chance!
Ah...those crazy disco days!! So happy for you!
Wow! That Gaynor gal is a class act. Congratulations!
That's so exciting! No wonder you're doing the happy dance. And what a welcomed break from all the hard work you are doing. This will be one of those "once in a lifetime" experiences. Enjoy!!! (D0 get a photo with her ;)
How grand for you and the other gals. Life is good for you all right now! Enjoy!
Wonderful, Linda! Enjoy, enjoy!
Wow, Linda. That was very exciting news, indeed. Congratulations and I know you will have a BLAST! Susan
Ditto to Cathy's comment: First I was afraid--I was petrified!!!
After the shock wore off, my thoughts were so high school, "What can I wear that won't make me look fat since I can't suck in my hips? Can I bring my camera? Hope I'm not having a bad hair day, etc." Looking forward to the experience. I'm sure we'll survive and have great stories to share afterward.
Wow! Congratulations! Get pictures and post them for us, OK?
How cool! Sounds like fun. I hope you have a great time!
How exciting - you'll all have such fun.
Very exciting! Can't wait to hear all about it.
