Your tighty Whiteys in the making

"What is that?" I asked as we drove past field after field with these in them.
They resembled hay bales, but it was obvious that it was not hay.
Then I got a closer look. "What kind of crop is WHITE?" I asked.  And then...

We saw the fields of cotton, growing in South East Missouri, Northern Arkansas and Memphis, TN
I have lots of photos to share with you this week.  Have you ever seen your T shirts before they went to the textile mills? Well, here you have it.

Isn't it amazing to come up on cotton when you aren't expecting it? I expect it in Arkansas and other Southern points but was surprised to see it in Missouri...and in Kansas even! Hope you had a great trip!

Neat pictures! I've only seen cotton fields a couple of times when travelling. They don't grow around here.

As a wee lass, I lived in Poplar Bluff, Missouri for a year. Me, and those Designing Women, Charlene Frazier and her little sis Carlene Dobber.

My dad used to pull the car over on the shoulder of the highway and pick up cotton that had apparently blown out of a truck. It was still on the stem, all sharp and pointy in the pod, or whatever it's called. That's how I knew where cotton came from. Along the road.

I'm guessing the biggest bales are for granny panties?

Hope you had a great trip!

Hi Linda...I've always been fascinated by the soon-to-be tighty whitey fields. Amazing, aren't they?

Hey, thanks a lot for all your faithful visits to my blog. Love them. Susan

LOL at Kim's comment!
I've never seen cotton fields, we have a couple somewhere in Australia, but not anywhere near me.

We pass cotton fields traveling south from Georgia into Florida. I can honestly say I've never made the jump in my mind from cotton fields to tighty-whiteys. Until now. That's all I'll think about next time around. LOL
