Things always look different in the light

Oh good grief! I'm at it again. Getting old is no picnic.

I woke at 4:30 a.m. and tiptoed to the bathroom. The motion activated, low-wattage, night light came on. In my groggy state, I squinted in the mirror to see how last night's facial (new firming cream) did or didn't work. I rubbed my fingertips over my cheeks. My eyes opened wide. I swiped my nose with the back of my hand. I stared at the reflection of my honker. OMG. I grabbed a tissue and dug at my nostril until it was summer-cold red. Had a glob of face cream solidified up my nose? I flipped on the bright-as-a sunny-day bathroom light which has six, large, high wattage lightbulbs, because he who likes to save electricity got a real deal on this fixture.

Standing in the spotlight, I saw what I thought was up my nose was actually on the mirror ... merely a splat of toothpaste. I ran for the Windex. All that squinting and frowning has ruined my facial and set my wrinkles and the tone for the day.

That's it, I'm sleeping in my glasses.

If you don't laugh at yourself, everyone else will.

Sometimes when we get older, it is best to just not look in the mirror. :o)

You have great courage, my friend! I can't look in the mirror until I've finished the second cup of coffee!

Will definitely enjoy reading your new book!

Yes, I avoid mirrors. I have all the mirrors in the house draped with black fabric because I am in mourning.

My youth is gone. May it rest in peace...

I agree with the other commentators above ! I try to avoid mirrors at all costs!! This made for a funny story though .

A mirror certainly is not my best friend anymore, either. I feel pretty decent walking down the street until I catch a glimpse of myself in a store window. First reaction: who the heck that chubby old lady?

You got up to go to the bathroom and turned away from the business at hand. I cannot imagine being lured from bed long enough to do anything but use the toilet.

One good thing about getting older is that without my glasses on, I can look pretty darn good!

You have to laugh at yourself---if we don't--not good! I have many of those nightly trips!

Well Linda, if you sleep in your glasses, you'll probably wind up forgetting that they're on and spend the next whole day searching for them! BTW..they say (whoever THEY are) that if you paint your bathroom a rosy pink color, you'll look more attractive in the mirror...

It's bad enough getting up in the small hours without torturing myself looking in the mirror;-)
