Viewing from afar

Today it's  been a month of self quarantine. We hopped in the car and went for a short drive into downtown. In 12 miles round trip we saw maybe a dozen pedestrians, five of them panhandlers, a few vehicles, businesses and schools shuttered, and a fat rat wandering around. It was like a horror movie. And to think the entire WORLD is resting, except for the essential workers. My son,  grandson, and son-in-law are front line heroes.

My cousin is still in ICU, and after a week is now off the ventilator recovering from Covid 19.

Our neighbor was taken by ambulance yesterday; he is presumptive positive, no final diagnosis.

I am grateful. We have everything we need. Bill and I are healthy. I am lonely though and so miss my little guys and big kids. I miss my writing group the WWWP's. We wild women wielding pens share more than the written word. Social distancing is weighing heavy.

Every single day, without effort, Bill makes me laugh. This incident happened one Monday before the confinement. We were in the car heading for a casino to indulge in the half price senior buffet.

I said, "Oh you left your glasses at home."

Without missing a beat he said, "I don't need to see the catastrophes up close anyway."

Alex is two and a half, and when the boys woke up Easter morning his mama filmed it for me. He wanted to know where the candy was. Ashley said, "You have to find where Bunny hid it. That bunny is sneaky."

I heard him shout, "Yeah, STINKY bunny!"

Just looking for things to make me chuckle. You have anything funny?

Yesterday, I wrote on Tammy's FB page that I missed seeing the kids. Her response? "you’ll get them when things go back to normal. Believe me."

Funny, yet threatening. Do you agree? :)

My granddaughter told me I can have them for a month. I will take them here or there, I will take them anywhere.

I end every day watching reruns of old sit-coms that never fail to make me laugh. My best go-to feel-good medicine. :-)

The world needs a miracle, and soon, because it's falling apart.

I saw a comic. A man is being examined by his doctor. The man says, "So, I don't have the coronavirus?... Can you still quarantine me from my kids?"

Stinky bunny! That's funny.

I was watching a stand-up show where the gal suggested matching up people on dating sites by their differences. Like over-eaters with anorexics. So one will finish the food the other doesn't want. The best one was C-PAP wearers with Restless Leg Syndromes. Because when the C-PAP one stops breathing, he gets revived by the thumping Restless Legs! That made me laugh out loud.

I share your feelings as well, Linda! I am so thankful to be safe and healthy and to have extra time with my family, and at the same time it feels like part of life is just put on hold. Looking for the lessons God is teaching me right now! Glad I had a chance to stop by and "see" you this morning. You're looking beautiful as ever!

I hope your cousin and neighbor are both soon feeling well again. Thank you to your loved ones on the front lines dealing with this pandemic. It has been a very surreal month. I am missing my sons and granddaughter very much, but we are all healthy so far, so I am also grateful.
